Part Time Security Guard
Under moderate supervision, the Part Time Security Guard performs foot patrols of buildings and grounds of the Anaheim Convention Center.
Essential functions include:

Patrolling on foot the facilities and grounds of the Anaheim Convention Center.

Completing clock rounds; unlocking and locking gates and doors.

Patrolling and issuing citations on public City streets and parking lots in the Convention Center vicinity.

Using a computer to prepare written reports on daily and major incidents, as well as a variety of other event associated paper work.

Providing escorts to vehicles in the parking structure for City employees working after hours; and controlling non-public entrance gates.

Handling multiple tasks while assigned to the Security Dispathc/Control Center such as monitoring of fire life-safety system, two-way radio console, multi-line phone, issuance of City euqipment, etc.

This position performs other job-related duties as required.
NOTE: Availability to permit scheduling during weekends, graveyard and holiday shifts, and emergency call in is required. This position averages 20 hours per week as needed. Hours of work are irregular and there is not a minimum number of weekly hours guaranteed.
SALARY RANGE
$17.35- $18.22
This position requires:

Journey level Security Guard experience.

Skill in effective oral and written communications.

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors and the public.

Ablity to stand and walk for extended periods of time, climb staircases, walk industrial catwalks and uneven surfaces

Ability to obtain a valid California Driver's License by date of appointment.

All canidates will be required to pass a City-taught class in the operation of an Automatic External Defibrillator and City-taught Defensive Driving Course by the end of probation.
The selection process will consist of a written exam and an oral interview. Candidates must be specific and complete in describing their qualifications for this position. Failure to state all pertinent information may lead to elimination.
The successful candidate will be requred to take a pre-employment medical examination, which will include drug/alcohol screening and the completion of a background criminal investigation. New employees must provide documentation to establish both work authorization and identity.
The Anaheim Convention Center operates under one of the City of Anaheim's fourteen individual departments (Convention, Sports, and Entertainment Department) and has successfully kept pace with the phenomenal growth of the industry maintaining its position as the largest and most successful convention center on the Wet Coast of the United States.
